This has certainly been the year of the model mill as two superbly constructed mills have been offered for sale. Attention to detail has been acute and the tide mill model which was put up for auction on the internet site, ebay , had been built by a husband and wife team who received several accolades from the model-making fraternity. It carried a hefty asking price of £49,000 and described as ”…..An opportunity to acquire an award winning example of true British craftsmanship. A unique 1/24th scale model of a 19th century English Tidal Mill.” (Does anyone know of anyone/who bought it? – ed) Here it is:

Back here in Hampshire, a retired engineer has laboured to complete a working model based on Pitstone Windmill; a fine example of craftsmanship. If you are interested in purchasing this windmill, further details can be obtained by contacting the Editor. Warning: the sails measure 4ft tip to tip so it needs a large space.

Rarely do we see such items and both are worthy of public display. Is there a kind hearted benefactor among you?
